Sophie Brown, a famous writer who travels to Scotland to escape a scandal, and while there, visits a beautiful castle and hopes to buy it.
Unfortunately for Sophie, the castle's owner, Duke Miles (Carrie Elwes), is reluctant to sell the castle to her, but eventually a deal is struck between them.
During this period, a relationship formed between Sophie and Miles.
When things started to go well for Sophie and Miles, Sophie had to go and ask Miles to stay with her in the castle after the guarantee period expired, but Miles refused her request, considering it an insult to him.
Sophie and Miles got into a heated argument, after which she decided to cancel the deal and travel to the United States.
While traveling, Sophie's car broke down, forcing her to stay in Dunbar.
Meanwhile, Miles reads Sophie's latest book and begins to remember the time they spent together, hen he realized that Sophie was his "dream girl".
Miles decides to go to Sophie and apologize to her, after which the two get together to celebrate Christmas Eve at Dunbar Castle, with the participation of their guests.
In the end, Sophie and Miles live happily together in Dunbar, as a married couple.
